Friends are vital to school-age children’s healthy development. Research has found that children who lack friends can suffer from emotional and mental difficulties later in life. Friendships help children develop emotionally and morally.

In interacting with friends, children learn many social skills, such as how to communicate, cooperate, and solve problems. They develop the ability to think through and negotiate different situations that arise in their relationships.

Having friends even affects children’s performance in school. Children tend to have better attitudes about school and learning when they have friends to share it with.

Right now our kids are separated from those friendships that have made a pivotal difference in the past.  The Lesson Center wants to help bridge that gap by giving them something they can work on together, apart.

If your child is a TLC student, we're inviting you to refer our teachers to their friends.  If your student's friend enrolls we'll:

  • Enter them to win a grand prize of a Nintendo Switch or one of three $100 Amazon Gift Cards.

  • Connect them thru their teachers to work on learning to play a song together (even if the friend is BRAND NEW to music), including regular shared lesson experiences.

  • Feature the friend duo on a special livestream TLC-TV show this winter.

SHARE THIS STORY WITH A FRIEND. ** THEY'LL BE PROMPTED TO SCHEDULE A FREE TRIAL WITH ONE OF OUR AMAZING TEACHERS.

HEY FRIEND, YES YOU!

Updated: Aug 31, 2019

Now that the first day of school is now officially checked off MOST of your to-do lists. We thought this would be a good time to check in with what's new and exciting here at The Lesson Center!

New Website Just for You

We've designed a new website just for our students and their families (Hint: you're on it right now!). This site will be your go-to place for helpful information (like this), details on new group classes, band coaching, choir, recital and show schedules, forms for requesting a LessonMate, reporting an absence, choosing your recital day and lots more. We'll add the link in to ALL of our correspondence and our emails, so you get used to seeing it.

2019-2020 Calendar Redesign

The new website also features our newly redesigned annual lesson calendar. Thanks to your suggestions we have updated our schedule to include some new holiday breaks. These new additions now make it possible for EVERY student to have the exact same number of lessons per year (48) and enables us to keep your tuition rate exactly the same every month for less confusion. See the full calendar here.

Kidzrock

We are super excited about this brand new ROCK BAND program for our youngest musicians (ages 4-6). Kidzrock is the perfect precursor to private lessons. Each Kidzrock session your student plays ALL of the instruments (guitar, piano, drums) and they sing. No instrument purchases are necessary and NO AT HOME practice is required. By the end of DAY 1 your student will be rocking with their peers like they're in a real rock band. So if you have a student who wants to rock, but might not be quite ready for one-on-one instruction, definitely check out this amazing program.

More Chances to Perform

  • Fall Band Coaching will be starting in just a few weeks. If your student performed at Fest Camp this year, has been a Band Coaching student in the past, or think they're ready to rock out with some new musical friends, don't miss sign-ups happening NOW for fall sessions starting in mid-September.

  • Holiday Choir -- we know, we know. It's not even September yet but our holiday choir gets their Fa La La in gear early. Our students will perform several shows this year, including our favorite caroling job on WFMZ news, a performance at Christkindlmarkt and more.

  • Holiday Philharmonic -- New this year, our string students will get to follow in the footsteps of our choir and prepare and perform at holiday events around the Lehigh Valley.

  • Recital -- This year's winter recital will take place Friday (Invitational Cabaret), Saturday and Sunday, December 6-8th. Mark your calendars! Sign ups will be made available in late September.
